Default [REL] Lite Fog. Addon to latest Environment Mod

This mod is an addon to the excellent Real Envirovment Mod. Latest version made by W-Clear and Kriller2.
This addon change the fog apperance.
I found the fog the be to much hardcore for my playstyle so decided to do an Lite version.

I have Only changed some values in the scene.dat file. It will not change anything els that kriller2 and W-clear have done.
There is 4 stages of fog in SH4.

Non --- No changes
Light ---- Values nearly close to stock. Just little more haze
Medium -- Little more difficult than stock. Watchcrew spot ships from about 1800-2000 meters but the ship is not visible for you before about 1600 meters.
Heavy --- Nearly same as stock.
Note:
Clouds/rain/dark nights also affect when a ship is visible for you.

Download here:

And the second edition whit slower waterspeed.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom//dow...o=file&id=1032

Its JSGME Compatible
Just unzip in your Mod folder and run JSGME.

Some screenies here

Non fog at all.

Light fog.

Medium Fog.

I had no Heavy fog screenies but we all know how that looks like .

Curious to know, how are these changes effecting scope locking at various ranges in various weather conditions, sensor abilities and crew's/enemies spotting contacts abilties ? In other words, how is the balance of enviroment change compared to gameplay following this mod ?

Well to be honest i dont fully understand the algorithm behind it.

But the values i changed are close to stock exept for medium fog.

In medium the crew can spot a ship from about 2000 meters but you cant se it in your scope untill about 1600 meters in normal zoom. If you zoom in you can se the ship about 1800 meters.

I think to make a fully realistic mod how far the ship is spotted and when you can se it in different conditions takes a lot of work and testing.

As exampel you can change the fogs colour to pitch black and that means you cant se a thing meanwhile your AI crew can se it cuz they ignore what colour it is.

So to get a realistic value so you can se it at same time when your crew spot it we have to adjust a lot of variables. And to do that its beyond my knowleadge. Well i think i could figure it out after a while but i dont have time to do such a mod.

The only purpose whit this little mod was to change back the fog to "normal" values. But the modders behind Enviro mod have also changed some colours and iam not going into that. I dont wana do a remake of someone els mod. That just dont feel right

But we can allways discuss different variable that can affect the visiblity

Default Updated

Just a little update whit an other version of this.

The fog values is the same as it is in Lite fog but in this version i changed the water speed to be much more slower. The water speed was to fast for my liking. And some other small tweaks as well.

You can read the changes on the dl section.
