Right now, I want to rip their heads off! Using proprietary crap drivers, I could scream about now. Why do they do this? Why?

I'm going to work my butt off to get them banned from my company.

I finally have my GPU drivers working again, but even their installation failed the first time through. I won't get into it, but I lost a ton of time this morning.

It was an ID10T error again. J/K Subman1. I heard the same with Emachines. I had two and one is still working to this day like a champ.

I have no problem with any other company. All I need to say is - proprietary NVidia GPU that will only run Dell drivers and not generic NVidia drivers should be enough for anyone in the industry to know what I'm talking about. Friggen ridiculous.

I had an ATI version back in 2000 - they didn't update the proprietary drivers for 5 years after several attempts to get them to do it, so I swore if I had a choice, I'd never buy another Dell since then.

I see they haven't changed their ways.

Do a search on Dell / ATI in the GT forum - you will find me bitching about it as far as 2005!!! AND THEY ARE STILL PULLING THE SAME SH*T!!!!

Ya it can sure be a pain with certain drivers, namely sound and especially video. Though there are ways around it.

For laptops though that is pretty much par for the course from just about all makers

Whats the difference between downloading a driver from Dell, or downloading a driver from ASUS? You still have to go to the MB manufacturer to get it.

If you have a NVIDIA or ATI card in your Dell, you can use the drivers from these companies.

I understand. But the thing is, any and all computer brands have their issues. HP, Dell, Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Gateway, Lenova, etc. There are always some customers who experience problems and sucky support, and they will be rightfully upset and let the world know. That doesn't mean the brand fails, and with Dell rhyming with Hell, lol, means a lot of people will key into that right away.

Good point Subman but I found the onboard graphics driver you are directed to visit Dell for a driver. I think after market additions of video cards you do not need to go to Dell. Correct?
