ok,sorted out ! BRILLIANT ! what about making the same tool for sh3? it will work at the 0-500m scale of navmap(at this scale the ruler is acurate). of course it will be need to change the vertical scale becuase at 6 knots after 3 minutes we will have travel 555,6 m so the tool must be very huge! but we can make it traveling with 3 knont and take reading every 2 minutes .that way we travel 185,2m and i think it will be comfort! one problem still remain...if replace the draggable nomo with this tool the problem is that you can't put the ruler on it and drag the line . or make it a static image directly printed on navmap...
what do you think ?

You mean like this?

I did it long ago but I can't remember right now if it was for the 5000 or the 13km scale (I think it was the first one)...

yes , you have write on it that it is for 5km scale .i don't know if the ruler is acurate at this scale ,have to check it . is this an image directly printed on navmap?

The image is actually in the StrTactlMap.tga, same as someone did before with the nomograph. You need the new tga I created in order to have it in the game.

Here you have it:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2...21d66e282a0ee8

But since I haven't written any tutorial I will not consider it an official release yet, nor upload it to my File Front page. I simply forward it to you or anyone interested for playing around, including in your own mod or whatever as long as it remains free.

Have fun

hitman ,just check that the ruler is acurate at 0-500m , 0-2.5km and 0-5km scale. so if a new image is created (no problem with that) but for 0-2.5 km scale or even better for 0-500 m scale ,it would be better becuase the accuracy of range is critical to minimize the course false . when i create it i will send this image to you in order to incude it in your release (in case that you are not planning to do it yourself)
ps: thank you very much for the image!

I know the ruler is more accurate at the 500 m scale, but then any ship plotted at a decent distance will be OUT of the map you see at that zoom

Remember that plotting is something not done at close ranges -you don't have time for that- but works best instead at more than 5000 metres. Also, forget Wazoo's tutorial's pin-point accurancy at distances, allowing you to get course and speed with just two measurements. That is not the general rule, nor was it what real kaleuns managed to do. Instead, as explained on my tutorial, it's the AVERAGE of the movement what shows the best results.

Good hunting

no problem with that becuase when you click the ruler on zero you can drug the line as long as you want and stop at the range you want.then the only thing you have to do when you are ready to drug the second line is to move the map so the zero of your image to 'meet' the start of the first line!

psf course i didn't mean to use this with only two readings ,in my case ,i take at least 10 !
