Default LA Fire department condems my Apartment!

Oh boy my $2,400 a month apartment has been red tagged by the L A Fire department and I have four days to move. Geesh! In fact, they red tagged 43 other apartments in Park Lebrea too. The Rat bastard Park Le Brea management knew about the situation a month ago but did not bother to pass on the information untill the LAFD's second follow up inspection came in and red tagged everyone! Bad electrical wiring thru out the apartment and old appliances.

Then to top it off Park Le Brea offered us another apartment. One that when we moved in 3 years ago was $500 less than the one we rented. When I sited that fact and asked if they were going to charge me $1,900 they said no it was $2,400 because the aprtment had been renovated. Thats what they told me about the aprartment I am in now. Funny how that works.

Any chance you can sue this guy? Atleast in small claims over the cost of having to move.

Wow that sucks... feel sorry for you. Hope you can work something out.

Whats this I hear about California witholding tax return checks?

Man Deon it sounds like you're getting hosed......Maybe consulting an attorney could help you out on moving costs....They have to be negligent on no advance warning.......Good Luck my friend

Yep they are going to send us an IOU for our state tax returns.

I am wondering if you were self employed and filed every quarter that you could maybe send them your taxes less the refund

Well it turns out they have to pay for my move, refund the entire deposit and pay for my next months rent.

So its real damn annoying but they have to pay.

The other drawback is I have to pay for everything and then submit it to the property management company to get reimbursed.

If they dont play ball then, I will have to sue them.

2400 a month? OMG! Lets see I can buy 5 houses in N. Ark for that money and rent them out to boot. Not to mention the real estate there is climbing and not dropping like other places. I will be buying a second home there this summer...

For $2400 a month, you could actually buy a house in California these days too.

With the amount of money I make here in California, I would be King of Arkansas. But then again, I would have no job when I got there!

Anyways, I found an apartment in Museum row just a block away that is bigger, has two bathrooms, and is $500 bucks a month less!

a high end duplex here in east texas... maybe $900/month.

hell my moms house cost around $280K and it is NICE... i would say her house payment is not half of what you pay for rent.

get the HELL out of the Los Angeles area... ALL of my expenses per month dont add up to what you pay just on rent.

wow

i know you earn a lot of money in LA

but You HAVE to make that much money to live in LA... trust me, i have done it! sure you make more money, but the living expense is something like 3 or 4 times the rest of the nation.

its ridiculous

Yes Sub that did cross my mind.

In fact, I submitted a plan to the Admiral (Wifey Poo) which called for moving into a 1 beedroom apartment that would save us $1k a month which would in turn give us a large enough down payment to get a house in 3 and a half years. However, she nixed it. I did manage to get her to agree to saving the 500 bucks a month toward that goal but it will take seven years for the right down payment.
