Cant say Im really supprised.

I found Circuit city to be arrogant and inflexible they felt they were the 'be all to end all' of electronics retail.

Their prices were not that good, their staff were snooty, and support

Just try to call a local store to check on availablity of a product... good luck.

Trying to be a 'high end' hoity toity botique in a sluggish economy is not a good buisness model.

Well, lets look at some things other than attitude, etc. Lets look at outfits such as Best Buy who basically squished CompUSA. Let's take a look at Tigerdirect and Newegg. Since I found these two, I do not go by Circuit City anymore, not Best Buy that much anymore. Internet purchases is used more widely now. I know it has doubled in my house and especially in the computer parts, etc.

agreed.

and what retail stores there are who are in competition with circuit city generally are capable of offering lower prices.

lets face it - retail mark up on most cases is over 40%

i know they have a lot of costs to cover but thats rediculous.

When it comes to computer components, I almost always order from Newegg. If I need a monitor NOW, or a new printer NOW, I go to Office Depot. If my PSU explodes (has happened to me twice in the last 10 years) and I can't wait 3 days for a new one to be shipped, I go to a local computer store that builds computers on site. I never go to Best Buy for computer components. I never went to CompUSA for them.

I had similar experiences to SteamWake with the Circuit City here. It was convenient for the location, but I didn't like dealing with them.

Either we went to the same store or they are all like that ... I only went to find the cheap items on sale thinking I could save a buck or two, but it cost me a lot of time an d fristration to find out it's not in stock.

Good bye Circuit City I won't cry :p
