Mozgovoy - needs help

I am new at this wonderful site. I have Silent Hunter IV, I downloaded it a while back and I am trying to learn. I am going to sub school and Nav. is the 1st part of the school. I do not know where I am. Or where I am going. So if someone out there can tell me how I can find myself please do. I also would like to know how to use the compass, pencil, ruler and eraser. I also see on new posts that are new mods. Can I download these new mods and add to my existing download or are these stricley for II & III. Also I must have a handle so please give me the info cause I sure am not the Captain.

The F3 key or the first button on the navigation tab brings up the map. The map shows your sub as a black circle with a directional tail and you r objective as an Orange Star. Click on the button the tool tip calls "Set Course". When you move the mouse to the map a line will appear from the sub to the cursor. Place the cursor at the distance and direction you want to go and press the left mouse button Repeat until your course is set. Right click the mouse button to end the course setting and start the sub on its way. Your sub will automatically start following the course at standard speed.

Please feel free to ask if you need more help. I don't think anyone here has never had that moment of "Now what do I do next?" so we do understand what you are experiencing. The prevailing attitude of the experienced captains and Modders here in response to questions is "Been there, done that, been helped, ready to help others."
