"Realistic" transfer to Mediterranean

In future I plan to transfer to La Spezia, but i want to do it right - by passing through the Gibraltar and sailing into La Spezia.

I know that I can't transfer while in port that is not my homebase, but I was thinking of exiting the patrol just outside of La Spezia, to get "teleported" to my home base, and than do the transfer. Hopefully I will be again "teleported" to La Spezia

, and start my new patrol from there.

Will this work? I can't test this myself, because I'm still in mid 1941 and the flotilla is not available yet.
