Man Accidentally Shoots Toilet After Gun in His Pants Goes Off

CENTERVILLE, Utah — The man escaped with a few cuts to his arm, but the toilet made out much worse.
Police say a man's gun fell out of its holster while he pulled up his pants after using the bathroom at a Carl's Jr. restaurant Tuesday. The gun fired when it hit the floor and shattered the commode.
A few shards of porcelain cut the man's arm, and a woman in an adjacent restroom who was frightened by the noise reported she was having chest pain. Both people were checked at the scene and released.
Police say they confiscated the 26-year-old man's firearm while they review the incident. The man had a concealed weapons permit. No charges are being filed.

See, if that toilet had been allowed to carry a gun, it would have been much safer!

Was this incompetence or a freak accidnet?
Would help if they would state exactly what firearm they are dealing with.

If it was a revolver it could go off if it landed on the hammer but any automatic should have had the safety on.

The woman complained of chest pains? Guns are loud, but they don't cause sonic booms, what is wrong with her?

Should've said it was a revolver, I had a whole speech written up about how the floor couldn't cause an automatic to misfire. :P

Incorrect. This is the very reason they are loud - the projectile is breaking the sound barrier. This why it is best to buy subsonic ammo if you plan to shoot a silencer - helps remove some of the ballistic noise. I've shot ammo that is not subsonic through silencers before but even though the noise is greatly reduced, the supersonic nature of it makes it still quite audible.

And, once again, the movies idea of a silenced weapon is garbage. It is still a loud event, though just not as loud. Of course, the movies also show you dropping dead if you get shot, though even if you had your heart removed from your body, you still live for at least 20 seconds or more with full mobility.

Another thing that boggles the mind - Why has hollywood instilled in the average mind that a gun is a massive killing weapon? Most people today don't even realize that you are more unlikely to die if shot than to actually die!

Crap, even real hit men shoot you 3 times at perfect placement (One in the brain and two in the heart, or one in the heart and two in the brain) and point blank range to make sure, and lots of times not even this works! Annoying it is when things are portrayed in an unrealistic fashion. This is probably my draw to this website - they like realistic simulations.

-S

PS. This is just more evidence that lots of people live with a fantasy mentality of reality and can't tell the difference.

Bah, nitpicking I say!

I didn't mean breaking the sound barrier, I meant shockwave, but my brain briefly exploded at that moment. I'm complaining about the woman and her "chest pains" which were probably brought on by herself and an excuse to sue the gun-dropper.
