I've been an avid SH3 player for about a year now and just very recently started playing GWX combined with SH3 Commander! (read: FREAKIN SWEET!!!) I see that there is a MOD along with SH3Commander that ramdomizes the thermocline layers ("The Layer") but I have know way to tell what depth they are. Is there any way to tell because I would love be able to pull a thick blanket of ocean over my head after a convoy attack and slip quietly away?
![]() 2nd question: The radio traffic in GWX is fantastic but I have yet to actually find a convoy where my fellow uboat describe them. Are the radio intercepts just scripted or can I actually use them to my advantage in hunting convoys?:hmm: BTW - Thanks to everyone who answered my previous questions! I ended up just going out a getting a new video card to play GWX and DO NOT REGRET IT!!! ![]() |

Most of the messages are just there for the emersion factor.
So you don't feel all alone. There's no way to show thermals in Game. Infact? I don't believe the Germans were aware they were useful? Although I do believe they were aware of thier existance. |

Go to http://www.silenthunteriii.com/uk/videos.php and click on and download "Herr Oesten - Thermal Layers."
Don't take our word for it. Take it straight from an actual U-boat commander's words. ![]() |

Informative video.. So Germans knew about existence of thermal layers, but could not tell where they might be.
Basically it was just a luck factor that's all.. |
