Help wanted (serious)

Okay, I need a little help with research for my master's thesis on the Indian Navy's new maritime strategy. Where else would I go but to the esteemed members of this forum?

Not having access to old editions of Janes Fighting Ships or Warships of the World, I'm asking if anyone could find for me the number of ships in the Indian navy, per year, since 1980 or thereabouts. I don't need a class-by-class breakout, nor do I need to know number of ships 'on order' (just how many actually in service. Something like the following:

Year: 19XX
Carriers: 2
Destroyers: 6
Frigates: 8
Corvettes & Missile Patrol Boats: 22
Submarines: 8

Anyone want to contribute? Many thanks in advance!
