Default I'm still afloat!

Hi guys, for those who still remember me

Just thought I'd drop a note saying that I'm still alive. I've run into some rough times since my broken arm earlier this year delayed my thesis work at school, and then I had to move to a new place (which is a just a room I'm renting with my brother) in early July. I haven't been able to get a job and got into a lot of extra expenses, too. Student loans, rent, bills, you name it. And I lent my brother a lot of money from me the previous year (which I bet I'll never get back), meaning all my savings were totally dry, too - and the rest of my family is down on luck with money, too, so I can't count on any help.

Needless to say, this has really wrecked my finances and I haven't even been able to afford to get myself internet access (at some points, I also couldn't even afford to do things like taking the bus, so I've been walking a lot). I've also run into a lot of other difficulties, so priorities had to shift to fixing up my real-life situation for now.

Sorry for bailing out without warning, and I'd especially like to apologize to Neal for disappearing after promising to have a review done. That one will need to be finished or made up for before I can get back here with a clear conscience. I can't make excuses for that one - I put that one off too long, until suddenly I had no time to do anything. I'd also like to apologize to joegrundman and others involved in the World at War forum game. Sorry if I let you guys down! I probably deserve a few lashes and maybe a day or two in the brig at least on both those counts

I may be actually stuck in this situation for a few months unless I pull off an insane lot of writing in the next couple of weeks and get my thesis wrapped up before the mid-september deadline. If I get it done, I'll be on my way to start my PhD studies in the fall, which includes a job and other perks. If I don't - well, I'll still start my PhD studies, but in the winter, and I'll just have to fend for myself until January in the meantime. I might have to be the classic food service worker with a Masters degree (and no internet access) for a little while, I guess

On the bright side, I guess, being a single 24-year-old saddled down with problems and finances isn't as hard as it could be! You don't need a lot to live on, for one, and you can be as mobile as you like.

So, smooth sailing to everyone! I miss the crew - hope to be back for good soon enough, but I got a lot of things to fix here first. I'll have to keep my head down for the time being.

(Man it's been a long time since I even played a sub sim )

Hi,

we never were close talkers here, but certainly knew each other's name, so I was wondering indeed where you were gone missing. Sorry to hear about the rough seas in your corner of the ocean. You probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day, but I promise you you'll see the sun again!

Good to hear that you are still around CCIP. I'm sure you will be fine in the long term. Look at it this way. Life would be a pretty darn dull affair without a few setbacks and challenges. Just make the best of the situation that you can and keep positive.

And the very first really cool SH3 video!

Have faith, lad. I'm still having problems in the same vein myself, and I know exactly what you're going through.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but on the bright side, I lived for two summer breaks or 6 months on ramen noodles and condiment sandwiches. I can post recipes if you would like. The key to ramen is finding other ways to jazz it up....I must say, week old hummus with lime juice is killer, if you could add a green onion or two, you are living da vida loca!

Good luck and god bless, brother!

Dal and rice. It kept a billion indians thriving in poverty for centuries!

Good to hear from you CCIP. I hope things pick up for you soon
