i bought the Fleet Type Submarine Manual on periscopefilm dotcom and i opened it and was like
i highly suggest buying it, as well as the color supplement!

ever wonder how to make a fleet boat work?

I agree about the book, but I must disagree about the colorsupplement.

The colorsupplement is not complete and due to its size not very readable.

What I did (after buying the supplement...) I printed the drawings on 11x17 from the HNSA website: http://www.hnsa.org/doc/fleetsub/appendix/index.htm

Tucked them into a binder, et voila.

The book is definitely worth buying. The originals go for ~$200 if you can find one...

I agree that the Fleet Type Submarine Manual is a great learning tool. It's based on the Balao class, but it's not too different from other classes of the era.

PeriscopeFilm.com is the place to order it for sure, but I got mine using credit card rewards. lol
