Default Breaking up

I am fascinated watching the various ways a ship breaks up and sinks - there are so many permutations and I really think the designers are spot on. They did their homework. Kudos.

Yes, it's fun to watch the ships sink in various ways, but lately I use the bow shot almost exclusively, and all the ships sink in a similar way. I found that it is very hard to break the ship with in GWX, like I used to do in the stock game.

You have to hit just right to have a unit turn Turtle.
Not many of them will do it.

If you break it in to 2 parts?
Not a single one does a twist.

It takes a total rework of the zones to get the effects.

But then you must balance the odd sinking effect
with the normal effect.

I was lucky to have a battleship go belly up and float on the surface.

Twisting on the way down when split in half is unlikely as the distortion (shape) will not allow a proper hydrodynamic. When the vessel is fully intact it does have the proper hydrodynamic.

How a vessel does land on the bottom is interesting too as I have see stern hit first and bow hit first and also some land on the keel sitting straight up and some on the side. Just like in real life. Shifting cargo, trapped air all have a play.

I have three patrols out - 100% realism, and other set at less that allows camera views for my own education.

Most deep ocean wrecks we surveyed from WW2 (up to 14,000fsw) using submersibles and ROVs to film (and cartographers to recreate an image) and of course create a complete photo mosaic from images and sonar leads me to say that this sim really is feature rich and quite accurate. And for a few bucks, how can you beat it.

As Privateer says, "Not many of them will do it", but a few do.

Here are a couple of shots of a vessel in the early stages.

I'm afraid I cant find the next shot atm
