Default TMO - Damage Control & Hogan's Alley

I'm trying out the TMO mod for the first time and have a quick question regarding the Hogan's Alley & Damage Control. The manual states that the Deck gun & AA crews gain protection from damage by being placed in Hogan's Alley. (To get around a stock bug, etc...) Can I assume that the damage control team is not included in this, as they tend to be inside the sub? I was hoping to fill those slots before leaving port, and just wanted to be sure.

I believe the DC party is safe. I can't recall them ever getting injured when the gun crews are.

Default Hogans Alley

The DC Party are safe in those slots. What I do is load all the DC Party but 1 at the end to leave enough room for the extra Deck Watch guy who won't fit cause there are 12 of them for 11 slots in Hogans Alley. I leave the Deck and AA gun slots empty and just use an off watch Torpedoman as the leader and fill in the rest from the DC Party to man reload. If you take damage during Deck gun operations you are TOO CLOSE. AA gun is useless in my opinion I just DIVE. The merchant guns are good to about 1500 Yds but I stay about 2800-3000 Yds to use the deck gun and rarely take any damage.

"Hogan's Alley" is the name given to the crew space in the after battery compartment. These spaces were put into the game so you can place your deck crew in there when you submerge. If left in the deck crew slots, they will be likely to be injured or killed in DC attacks due to the way the game operates. The men in Hogan's Alley don't really do anything; they are just in their bunks resting.
