[ Wip] U-boat Distress Messages And Detailed Sinking Reports.

have been thinking of giving something back to the community after take take take all these months.

well im no computer whizz so its a small message mod.


im writing a mod that gives the commander reports from other u-boats contacting bdu when under attack.

i was going to just use it for myself...but thought some other kaleuns would like a realistic twist to their war.

from reading several books...u-boat commanders would often recieve intercepts of fellow boats and friends meeting their fate...giving great hurt and anger to those boats recieving them.

in this mod... during your career... you'll recieve those messages.

ive tried my best to have the correct dates, uboat numbers and reasons for loss.

Wereford brown has been invaluable in his help....im knocking heads with him just now....so it shouldnt be too long away.

Danurve also gave permssion to use some of his "new mesages only" file that came with his excellent mod.

the messages arent obviously repeated ..so getting knocked out of tc constantly shouldnt be a problem

is this something the community would want?

Oh yes please, I remember them from the Aces of the Deep times and it added a lot to the inmersion in late years -specially May 1943 onwards-, you can also add calls from BDU to U-Boats to come in with no reply and such.

Already on it hitman.

hopefully all boat fates will be covered best i can.
imagination is neded in parts.....like you posted....and in later years you really will see the increase in allied successes...due to aircraft etc.

Well two responses is two more than i expected....so its a goer.

just some minor udjustments to thrash out with werefords critical eye and i'll hopefully have a finished article.

I didn't reply just because I keep making changes to my own copy, and am sort of doing something similar just for myself.

Never guage or judge opinion solely by the initial response......or I suspect a lot less people would go to the bother of modding.

Make your judgement after counting the number of down loads.

Sorry guys....genuinely wasnt venting......i wasnt sure anyone would have wanted more message add-ons....so a couple of responses was great.

believe me....i will never "spit the dummy" on this forum....after all the help and advice i've had...it'd be a bloody cheek!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It's a great idea. Some messages would be unfinished like U-Boat was sunk before message was send.

i did think of that coronas...but im not sure if it would look like i had just forgot to finish the text :hmm:

Don't worry about this. Distress messages are send in hurried moments, incompleted messages are...more dramatic.
C'mon with your mod. It will be a great add-on to the game.
