Does anyone know what programs it take to model in DW? I have Gmax, but it's my impression that the graphic files in DW are some what compressed into one single file am I correct here?

The program itself doesnt matter much, you can use 3D Modells from 3dsMax, Maya and most likely GMax too ... BUT you need a converter to the j3d format used by SCS. The only known available converter is one for 3DSMax 3.1.

Unfortunatly I dont know of a converter from J3D to another format ... maybe SCS has something but as far as I know they haven't released anything in that regard. Aside from that, why would you need one anyway? I suppose you wanna get your models in the game and not use the mostly crappy ones from the game.
