Talk about it! I was thinking of replacing my two Radeon X1950 Pros with a Radeon 3870(one at first, second later IF they get Crossfire working properly), and was VERY pleasantly surprised when I found out that the thing costs less than a 100€ even in Finland

ps. Two Radeon X1950 Pro 256 mb versions for sale 30€ each, postage not included. Make sure to have a good at least 500 Watt power supply and decent case ventilation if your going to run them in Crossfire mode.

I thought of a single 3870 as well. Cheap, low power, and works decent. Not a whole lot faster than my x1900 XTX, but probably worth $150 of upgrade!!! If it were $270 still, not really worth it to me.

Just bought a 2600XT. I know it's older, but it beats the hell out of my old 7600GT. And I don't have to deal with the infinite loop error I constantly got with that card. And for $80 or so...

Yep agree with that. Great deals and god value on the mid-range stuff such as Nvidia 9600GT and the ATI equiv. Quite frankly I just can't justify orking out £400 on a top of the line card. That's just me though.

A short research into the Finnish and German GPU markets revealed that the 9600 GT is just about even with Radeon 3870, while 8800 GT is a bit more expensive. The 8800 GTS is considerably more expensive, even though it too is well under 200€. I also learned that both Ati and NVidia are launching their newest products before the end of June, so I decided to wait and see what they've got. Even if the new releases are out of my league what comes to price, they should still bring down the prices of the older cards a little. I won't be gaming a lot during the next three weeks anyway, since watchings the football(or soccer to some) European Championships takes a lot of my time with two games a day.
