I am using TMO and RSRD. It is May 1945 and I go days and days and days w/o seeing a single Japanese ship. Nothing but allied task forces. Is this because the Japanese ships have been mostly sunk? Are the mods I have modeling this situation? Is that what is going on?

By 45, the entire IJN merchant marine may as well have been placed on the rare and endangered species list. We didn't kill them off entirely, but damn near it. Its my guess that RSRD is modeling this. There's shipping out there im sure, but your going to have to be very aggressive to find it most likely.
That late in the war Japan as running traffic as near to the shores as possible, to keep in shallow waters (which are not condusive to submarine attacks) and only ran ships during daylight from port to port, and would "hole up" at night in the nearest available harbor. Im guessing that Lurker probably designed RSRD around that, so its my guess you'll have to get more brazen and more aggressive. From the "little known facts" of the pacific war: Quote:

Just don't get "too" cocky, we may have throttled them, but it was certainly by no means a cakewalk at that point in the war. Eight subs were lost due to enemy action in 45. ( http://www.valoratsea.com/losses1.htm )
The japanese were down, but defnatly not out. |
