Default U-Tanker dates in GWX??

U-Tanker dates in GWX??

Ive been reading a book about German resupply ships/subs in the second world war and assuming the info in the book is correct ive spotted something a bit odd in GWX, the dates for the u-tankers (milk-cows) seem a bit off, in fact both the dates and the locations seem wrong.

For example, GWX has U459 first being available on September 10th 1942 where in reality its first resupply patrol was 29 March to 15 May 1942 with it being "on- station" 500 miles NW of Bermuda from 18th April to 5th May 1942.

Plus U489 and U490 seem to be missing atogether.

Not to mention there should be a whole bunch more surface resupply ships in the Atlantic before December 41.

Now i know not everything can be simulated in game so i can live with a few missing resupply units but incorrect dates??

...See this is what happens when i read books when i should be playing sh3!

What is the name of the book ?
Would be an interesting read

Quite possibly some mistakes depending on references used at the time
IIRC the vast majority of the Utankers were carried over from GW with some newer ones added for 2.0

U 489 was sunk 3 days out of port so wouldnt be there

http://uboat.net/boats/u489.htm

U 490 was also sunk first patrol though had been at sea 40 days

Meh
I found supply ship references hard to come by when doing resupply mis for GWX 4
Also locations vary by source used

Yes, I too am interested in the title of the book you are reading.....sounds interesting.

I have a keen fascination in the Type XIV boats and also the others (Type X's for example) that filled in as stopgap re-supply boats.

Hi Flakmonkey.

It´s true that not all boats are in the campaign but it can easily be fixed.

Check this: http://files.filefront.com/Patrol+P1.../fileinfo.html

It´s jsgme compatible file we used in WaW3 for the second Paukenschlag patrol.

Three files. One for GWX2.1, one for GWX2.0 and one NYGM2.6 compatible.

It´s a very easy add a Milchkuh to each file of type campaign_SCR.mis

Take a look at the file made for GWX2.1:

You find this

All is added BEFORE the "[OrdnanceUnit 1]" comes.

By adding last the U-459 as a "Naval Base" you can actually dock and get replenished.

By doing that you get the early positioning of the U-459 before she moved to the SA.

Further on you can fix all the U-tankers/supply ships. Even playing with the thought of adding tankers that never made it to their station but was sunk in the Bisqay.

Important:

You must use the current Campaign_SCR.mis for the mod you are using.

The original idea came from CCIP back during WaW2.

Cheers
