Hi all
I recently played the Demo of Medieval 2 total war and thought it was absolutly brill :p I never played any of the old total war games as they never really interested me at the time but after playing this demo its completely changed my mind. So my question to anyone with the full game, is the full version worth getting? Is there a skirmish mode etc and what are your thoughts on it? ![]()

Hey AJ!
Yes, the full game is worth to get, I dont personally have the expansion but it is said to be a model piece of how expansions should be made, so I think you might want that too. Here's an old topic about the MTW II, you find plenty of info etc from there. ![]() http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=100956 |

It is definitely worth getting. It's probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's much like Civ IV with an RTS portion added, but I find M2TW much easier (as in more fun, not easier dificulty) to play. I would reccomend this game to anyone.
Also, the new one Empire Total War is due out next year, Q2 I believe. And if you need help in the game, Total War Center is a good forum for all Total War games.

Medieval 2 Total War + Kingdoms is the best money I ever spent (except SH3). The Kingdoms Expantion is the best addon ever, I am not kidding.
Oh, and get the awesome Stainless Steel-mod.

You can't go wrong with MIITW. May also want to get RTW which comes with Barbarian Invasion now.

I'll put my mark down for recommending MTW2. The totalwar games stole my love for Civilization long ago, although I'm still a fan of Civ, it's just that TW has so much more to it. I've definately got my moneys worth out of all the TW games i've purchased. It's one that you can always go back to after a few weeks and enjoy playing it.
Empire Totalwar, this game is going to be awesome with extra awe! ![]()

Who else finds the strategic maps of Shogun and Medieval Total War better than the one that was introduced in Rome?
Both types have their pros and cons, but there is something about the MTW map with its predefined provinces that makes me like it more. For example I've just came out of a 15 or 20 year war with the Turks against Byzantinum always fighting in the same 2 provinces to thin down my border. I finally had 2 good battles in a row where I managed to kill the 7 star King of the enemy and wiping out 3 big army stacks of him. The door to Constantinople is open now, but I need a bit of consolidation before pushing further. |

The one thing I don't like about M2TW is that some of the factions aren't balanced well. I tryed playing France for my first game as per reccomendation and by 1150. I was dragged into a 7 front war, with 10 enemy factions
![]() My current Campaign is with England and I own 51 regions. In 1250, I own pretty much all of Europe. I was an ally with the Moors for 150 years (I changed the turns to be 1 year each), I gave them hundreds of thousands of florins, then just recently when I took a Spanish town in Africa they attacked. I am now exterminating them; normally I cannot force myself to do this, But after that long a friendship...

But I hope that is not rated M. Because I am only 14 and my parents seem to believe that if I play M rated games I will become evil and violent ![]()

I liked the original Shogun Total War also, rarely cover period and well done. The graphics might feel a bit dated (especially after you played MTW2) but worth the time, IMHO.

Oh, and the pope loves me! ![]() The Moors were giving me headaches in southern Spain, so I requested a crusade on Tunis. My God, there were English, Roman and Danish stacks all over those poor bastards. Great game. Next up I am playing the Teutonic order. (Yes, in Stainless Steel the factions from Kingdoms are in the Grand Campaign)
