Default Fogging Periscopes

Reading this:
http://www.uboataces.com/periscopes.shtml

it came the idea to my mind to implement such a described fogging effect to the periscope.
Can this be done by adding some semi-transparent layer to the graphics of the peri-screen ?
It also could be related to damage on the boat in general.
So that there would be a chance (when hit by DCs) to get a slightly damaged periscope (or even two).

Any suggestions whether this can be done ?

The only effect of damage that I've ever seen is the periscope going up and down verrrry slooowly. Either that or it's completely destroyed.

If someone could mod this, and it's well beyond my meagre talents, it would be an awesome addition.

This is why I'm asking: If it's not already implemented somewhere it might be possible to use a different or an adjusted graphic for the peri screen under certain conditions.

Such conditions could be that the periscope got damaged before and repaired again.
Or just some random event that may happen with every DC detonating nearby.

That's right, it's one of the sabotage/malfunction possibilities.

I think the poster wants to add it in as an automatic consequence of depth charge damage though.

Ah yes. For Friday's sake, I'm only reading every other line. :p

So is it possible that your periscope view gets really dull like described in the link of my first post ?
I never experienced that but I'm using SH3Commander and have the malfunctions/sabotages always turned on.

Yes, I remember SH3 commader will apply the same effect as water splashing on the periscope, only its permanant. I see no reason why this couldn't be done, as a vision distortion texture is already implemented in the game.
