Default A question out of couriosity

Hi out there!

Reading throu this good and informativ forum, I´m now a bit courios about how all of you play!
Some have it in there sig!
But what is with the ones who hasn´t?
So the title is a little trick because every one thinks it is just one question but it´s a trap
Because there are more questions!

So let´s start before this post get to long!

Which version do ya play?
And what kind of mods?
Which realism grade?

What is your prefered carreer?

Which boot do ya drive in there?

Did ya pimp your boot?
If yes with what kind of components and how good do ya feel with them?
If not .... why?

Do ya have any "eye catcher" mod´s included?

Maybe in the discussen there will come more questions

In diesem Sinne

SH3 V1.4b w/GWX2.0 and OLC GUI 1.2.3 at 80% (gotta have external cam! The sights are just too beautiful! Map updates on, let one of my officers plot for me...manual targeting is on)

Sig explains the rest I think.

SH3 V1.4b w/GWX2.0 and Commander. Have not downloaded the OLC GUI but thinkin about it.

I play on 76% realism

- Unlimited fuel because BDU has no clue on the practical range of a VIIC. BDU likes to send my tiny VII from Lorient to the South Pole a lot it seems

- No duds because not only would I have rebelled against the Torpedo Directorate and had the faulty Magnetic pistol disabled, I would have empowered my CPOs to beat the crew if they did not inspect and maintain the eels correctly. I also recognize that this is a game and dud torpedoes simply are not fun.

- I do have the event camera active as I think it is so cool to see your torpedo hit the side of the ship. I also like the animation of the ship sinking

- Because I do use manual targeting I have Stabilized view enabled.

- No external view. I don't think there is a problem using it after the attack to gloat while my enemies panic, but the temptation to use it while setting up is too much for a weak-willed Kaluen like me

- No noise meter as I wear sneakers on duty

- Even though I rarely use it, I have WO assistance enabled. There have been times when I have needed help in identifying a ship, but I don't use him for solutions (that is toooo easy) I don't know why I have WO enabled. If I disabled it would up my realism to 82%. I guess I am just chicken. I like to have the option of using the WO's eyes to ID some ship at an awkward AoB. I am the Kaluen, I don't "have" to do everything myself ya know! Better to have a WO and not use him than to need him and not have him.

Question for you smart guys and ladies. If I select "no WO assistance" do I still need an officer in that crew position? Can I take that officer and train him for other duties around the boat or does that position still need to be manned for somethings?

1.4 + GWX 2.0 (with a few of the optional mods) + OLC GUI 1.2.X + SH3 commander + torpedo dammage final + the super sweet diesel exaust gases by RB.
i think that's pretty much it. :hmm:

and arround 80% realism (camera for screens and "irrealistic ship sinking time")

about "pimping" i like custom paintjobs, if you'r talking about in-game improvements like the M.A.N. supercharger and stuff, i usually use it.

Longer Torpedo Wakes 1.02 (eyecatcher, testing but I think they see the T1 and also T2 and T3 ... more early... better... and try to get out of the way more early... kinf of adding some realism... but not really sure if the AI is really seeing them better with this mod.. just my "feeling" so far )

I play SH3 1.4
Mods: GWX 2.0 !!
Other mods: *cut/paste*
Torpedo Damage Final version 2 mod that makes ships look like this:

Get it here http://hosted.filefront.com/OceanBlue

I also suggest getting the RealweatherFix2 Mod that seems to help a little with "weather issues" the game gets (Make sure to follow the instructions before installing it)
http://hosted.filefront.com/TeddyBar/

Also, Don't ship out without Silent Hunter III Commander (If you use GWX, make sure you read the manual part pertaining to SHIII Commander)
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html

A lot of people like the Depth Charge Shake mod. I don't have the link for that handy. I don't use it because it tends to make me seasick but give it a shot and see if you like it.

My Preferred Career: I start usually in the 2nd Flotilla out of Wilhelmshaven

My Boot: I start with a VIIB but switch to an IX boot as soon as possible.

Boot Pimping: I give my boot the following conning tower emblem:

GRAAAAAAAR !!!!!!
