Default [TEC] Shifting Nodes, the X,Y,Z.

Recently decided to change the position of a Node in an aircraft .dat file. I see they have an X,Y,Z set of locations meaning I can reposition the Nodes as long as I'm aware of the new values. To see the new values, I'm guessing I need some sort of 3D/Image tool? that gives me locational values that are derived from the aircrafts 3D frame.

Is anyone aware of what tool is required ,to view these locations (Against the Airframe?) so as to ascertain my desired values?

Example = In the B5N2 Kate, there is 4 'B' nodes. Each one capable of holding a weapon. The 'B' nodes are like so...

------------ <-- Plane Wing (front View).
_X__XX__X_ <-- Weapon nodes.(Slung under wings)

B01 B02-B03 B04 <-- Node Name.

Now, the aim is, to make this a three node aircraft. B02 and B03 share two values the same, the value that runs north south (lengthways) down the aircraft (like north south engine etc.. terminology) chassis and the height of the nodes. These two values are Y and Z, though what is north south and what is the height
(Y or Z) I have no idea ^^.

The value required is the X value. Or in this diagram, the width value (Excuse my terminolgy, car painting does not teach you technical drawing skills ^^).

Here is the desired result.

------------- <-- Plane Wing (front View).
_X___X___X_ <-- Weapon nodes.

B01 B02 B04 <-- Old Node Name's.
B01 B02 B03 <-- Renamed Nodes.

B04 will then be renamed B03, but will retain the values of B04. And wallah, I would now have three nodes, two on the wing, one in the centre...

I hope my example helps anyone reading to understand my question.

The Kate did not carry bombs on the wings.

A kate with bombs on the wings would be anti-realistic.

Aren't the kate nodes actually under the fuselage, even if they are remarked for the wings?

tater

PS--in RL, the torpedo on the kate was indeed not centered!

If I knew how to view node locations, I would know :p your probably right, I never thought to load 4 bombs on it and have a look ^^

Ok, roger that Tater. If thats the case, I have no need to move them really. There are other options available to tweak the torpedo release, it's amazing what a nights sleep can do for someone

I tried moving nodes last night, not sure where my pilots went There was no visible change in the nodes loactaion though, I may be pissing in the wind here.

Also, is it correct that the airdropped torpedo were only straight runner? In game they have a 135 degree correction.

I did a bunch of testing on the planes with dave, actually. Search and you'll find it. We did tons of testing, this was before S3D. The cfg files are bunk, BTW, many have the wrong number of nodes, check them vs the dat. the files I sent you I think have many of the cfgs fixed to have the right numbers of nodes.

Note also the use of loadouts.

Loadouts have actually been completely removed from the aircraft .cfg files. Kindly fixed by another subsim user of rare talent

I know what you mean in regard to the nodes not being comparable between the .dat and .cfg and .eqp files. Theres some really messy stuff floating around in the unit files. I have used S3D for everything so far. Although, at this point, novice would bea good coin of phrase.

Off to start looking at your work now. Thanks for those Tater
