Default Destructible shore targets

I saw this debate on the SH3 forum and the SH4 general forum, but no resolution- would it be possible to either create a destructible target for shore bombardment or mod a ship into the shape of a building for shore use? Could one of the bridge structures be detatched and used for a command post? Maybe creating a "lake" behind the shoreline for the "ship" to sit in would get around the issue of ships being destroyed automatically on land.

Rereading O'Kane's and Fluckey's autobiographies, both describe efforts to destroy radio stations, gun emplacements, and sampan building yards...this could be used for some interesting single missions, maybe even introduced into the campaign?

I would love to see something like that. One thing that's always impressed me about US sub commanders, especially in the later parts of the war, was how aggressive they were...if they couldn't find a ship, then by God, they'd shoot up anything with a Japanese flag on it.

I'd love to be able to take out my frustrations on hapless shore installations.
