Default Don't forget to enjoy the game!

I see a lot of posts where people are experiencing various issues mostly related to mod conflicts. It's very easy to get so caught up in the whole 'mod' thing that you are forever adding mods and working out conflicts and you never actually get to enjoy playing the game.

I run TM and all the ROW mods. My game looks and feels great, and I won't be adding anything else in the near future.

Mods are great, but keep it simple and enjoy the game.

I agree wholeheartedly. Enjoy the Game.

For some though, working out the conflicts IS the game and I support that as well.

To me, the game is a successful Convoy/Task Force attack followed by a stealthy escape and then surfacing to experience one of Dave's awesome sunsets. That's Silent Hunter 4 to me.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I've had some folks anguishing over which mod do I use or in what order should they be run to be compatible? Look this game is FUN, all by itself. The mods out here are mainly fluff, just superficial coatings to a generally solid game. There's nothing like getting your first convoy sighting and planning a successful attack, even with the computer finding the data for you. The eye candy will just make you fat!!

I think one of the neatest things to do is fire your deck gun and immediately pause the game. Use the Free Camera to head to the target and position yourself on the deck (yes the camera will move in position with the game paused). Unpause the game and waiting just a few seconds you'll hear the unmistakable sound of incoming fire. The boat will even rock with an accurate hit. What fun!!

Bingo

I've been known to go quite overboard on the modding, whether it be SH3, SH4, or FS2004, and I found that I didn't have any time to play the damn thing. I was always worried that I didn't have the best "build", forget that, play the game.

Just got my best build. TM with ROW and RSRD and i am loving every minuit. Also put in Foo's new recognition manual much easier to use than the old one.

The game now feels finished to me and it's fantastic

Yes, enjoy the game, and stop asking/spaming/pestering Ducimus with questions hes answered over and over again ad nauseum via every method of communication imaginable. I hear his next door neighors contemplating calling the men in the white coats after hearing alot of irrational explantives coming out of his apartment. Rumor has it, he was found, head in hands, repeatidly asking "Why? Why? Why?" over and over again to no one in particular. I give him another week before he cracks like an egg.

When I was patched to 1.3 there were no problems at all, now on the 1.4 patch it's CTD.

But I'm using the JSGME and if that tells me there is a conflict that's that and I don't load it. You could say JSGME is my warning, since paying attention I am OK now.

Ducimus, the ice maker in my refrigerator stopped working. It was working fine until I installed TM on my computer. :rotfl: :rotfl: You need to look into this ASAP!:rotfl:

What I'd really enjoy is a comfortable toilet in the boat- and REAL toilet paper! Not last month's Stars and Stripes issue. Also, I don't mind tying Ducimus to my bow. He'd make a scary mascot to scare the enemy, dontcha think?:rotfl: Reason? TM screwed up my game- had to re-install it. Damn you, Ducimus, damn yooooooooooooouuuuuuuuu!:rotfl:

You got patched? How unfair! I'm still playing with me in vanilla edition, including the 'Von, you need to quit SHIV and sleep now' bug.

If you are a JSGME Addict , then do yourself a favor and create two installs, one to play and one for your daily " fix " so to speak.

But remember, it is a great game, it is meant to be played, so make sure you take the time to do just that. Nice thread.

Yes, when I first started out last year, I went "Mod Crazy"! It happens! Right now things are cool, 1.4, TM plus ROW and its patrol city. Plus its less frustrating dealing with Japanese AC and DD's than trying to pin down that mod conflict.
