Default Task Force?

I was happily sailing along north of Britain to my patrol grid when my radio man tells me there's a task force 1500 km south on the other end of the island. I think, "Thanks, I'll get right on it." and continue on my way. The reports just keep coming in though, and the task force is getting closer, heading up between the isles. I figured I might as well intercept and have some fun, so I turn around and head the 350km to intercept. Imagine my delight when I find a nice jucy task force of 3 elco torpedo boats!

Why are these boats constantly circling Britain at 8 knots, and why do I need to get radio reports about it every hour?

Kaluen,

I have had better luck scoring BBs in convoys. I never bother with Task Forces as most I have seen are all DDs or your personal favorite the Torpedo boats.

I use the updates to stay away from TF's.

a General rule of them that i use when it comes to attacking Task Forces.
If there around land, example between England and Norway, north or west of Scapa Flow or south of Ireland, then its most likely made up of DDs or torpedo boats, and I dont go after them.
BUT..... If the task force is out in the Atlantic where Convoys r normally found then they are usually made up of DDs, Cruisers, Carriers, Battleships, then i will attack them.

You need to attack a Task Force differently, I almost always attack them at night...Cause one good hit from a battleships main guns will kill you.

But the other day i was Northwest of Scapa heading towards Ireland but then i got a Task Force position southeast of my between the Oarkney islands and Scotland so i attacked it and found out that it was One DD and Two Aux. Cruiser. I even attacked it during day light, sank them all hahaha

More like a near miss will flatten you. Better not even think about getting hit.

With our skin armor, may be the shockwave from the guns firing will rupture the hull :rotfl:

Thanks for the info.. i spent over an hour the other night watching this TF move just NW of scapa only to stalk them and never find them. I even reloaded the save game and tried again thinking i can't be this blind.. i did see one lone DD.. so now i guess that was the task force.. hehehe

Kind of funny that whoever is responible for that report did get a very accurate position, speed and course of the target but has absolutely no idea if what he saw was a battleship or an elco boat.
