Kaluens,
Tired of convoys with 5, 6 or even as many as 8 escorts?? ![]() Come join me and the gallant crew of U 765 in the Yucatan Strait ! ![]() Tons upon tons of unescorted singles, doubles and triples. Sgueezing through the strait and plenty of deep water if needed but you wont. Its June 28, 1942. I am currently stalking a convoy consisting of 4 (yes 4) whaling shps and 5 (yup, I know, I cant hardly believe it either) modern tankers and 1 LARGE Tanker. This delectable uboat combination platter was protected by ..hold onto your hats.. a measly 2 escorts! The unfortunate thing is I had only 8 eels remaining when I stumbled upon this veritable tonnage buffet. If the weather wasnt so craptastic, I would risk a surface battle with the remianing tankers. ![]() Soooo.. Come on down .. to "Hanomags Tonnage Emporium" ! ![]() The Margaritas are on me !

1 grid south of Sardinia is not a bad place to be
also loitering on a line about 70km north of Tobruk then going to Alexandria and Port Said is a good route, just remember to check in closer to the coast from time to time The Northern edge of the word MITTELMEER on your map is also a good line for shipping. outside the med there's my 2 favorites AM36 and St George's Channel ![]() |

I'm just starting to know the Atlantic, so I think this thread will be great for me to take a look at it. Unfortunately, I always have the weird idea of going to my assigned grid, patrol it, and go back home...

I'm still in 1939 and I'm in one of those nice "limited range" VIIB's. My favorite hunting ground is in between Scapa Flow and Shetland. There's a LOT of merchant traffic that chugs through there. I also usually pop over to the northern coast of Ireland (but not too close) near the channel between Ireland and Great Scotland.
Usually just driving through that area to my patrol zone I get at least 5-6 ships. ![]() This is going to change when It gets later in the war when that area is going to become a bees nest of of enemy aircraft.

Kaluens,
Also check operation spinnennetz at top of this forum, it has actual dates and places where we have spotted and or sunk enemy ships... granted its GWX not 2.0 but Im guessing things are somewhat similar with minor changes... ![]()
