Default GWX 2 telegraph volume

Hi everybody, Yesterday I found out the new GWX version is out and I'm all into SH3 again! Even made a donation to support this great forum / site. GWX 2 is great stuff...again!

One question, new is the ringing sound the telegraph (speed selector) makes when you select a different speed. On my pc this sound is very loud compared to the general volume. Is there a way to turn down the volume of the telegraph by changing a file or something?

Thanks for your reply.

Seems that the ringing sound is part of an entire sentence like "volle fahrt voraus ring ring". So I would have to edit the last part of the soundfile in a sound editor to change the volume of the bells.

I'll just live with it

You are right...the ringing is a tad to loud.
But you can mask it a little, by lowering the treble-settings (high frequencies) in your sound-control panel (of your soundcard/-device, whatever).

It is really only too loud when I am facing the direction of my center speaker (5.1).
Not really a problem...was just wondering.

I see a lot of sounds in that folder that I never heard in-game...maybe I didn't see enough different situations so far.

There's actually an "abandon ship" line, lol, how would you do that?

I never get a bell ringing when I change telegraph settings. Is this because I am using the English language, as it looks like Dronston has his language in German.

You are right Tango, I play with the German language, makes it more real for me.
If you go to :Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sound\Speech_En
and you play the files there are no telegraph sounds.

Is there an easy way to add the bell sounds to the english speech? Also, how do I read the .OGG files that the soundis stored in?

Cheers.

There's probably not an easy way except editing the sound files yourself (but what do I know about modding)
I can simply play the .ogg files with winamp. If you can't it is probably a codec issue.

Hi!

You will need to buy or find on-line a sound editor, such as Sony Sound Forge that can read *.ogg (and lots of other formats) and knit them together.

Sounds too much like confusion! I think I will just live without the bell.

If you're not using GWX2.0, but still want the telegraph-sounds to your German voices, then grab the mod here...it's made by Tikigod.

2 tips, for media-players/-editors:

- VLC media player
- dBpoweramp
