Real navigation.

Ahoy everyone. I have two questions about the real navigation mod made by Kaleun Van. Is this mod compatible with OLC? I love OLC's mod, but it doesn't work for me when the real navigation mod is combined with OLC. It seems like it's not compatible with OLC for now.

My second question.
I have some problems with longitude, though it's my first time testing this mod . Latitude works correct for me, 54 degrees. When it comes to longitude I wait for the lights to turn on(sun rise), 08:46, check! I loaded the game about 15 degrees east of Greenwich, then I know that the clock is one hour too fast because of the "clock problem". I subtract 08:46 with one hour and now we have 07:46. I open the sun almanack, date check(30 december), latitude check(50 degrees north)! It says 07:58. For more accurate I look up 60 degrees north, it says that the sun will rise 09:03 in GMT. 65 minutes difference between 50 degrees latitude and 60 degrees latitude. 65/10*4 = 26 minutes. 07:58 + 26 min = 08:24(sunrise about 54 degrees north). 38 minutes
difference between 07:46 and 08:24. 38/4=9.5 degrees east. My real position is 8 degrees east. Well, I guess I can accept one degree, but not 1.5 degrees, or can I :hmm:?

By the way, many thanks to OLC and Van!

Hi Kanelglass,
The OLC mod is not directly compatable with real navigation. To help you take a look at Nico71 posts starting at bottom of the page.

Thx for your reply Wolf . I have made some changes to menu_1024_768 file, and I'm almost there. The navigation map, sextant and AOB-finder now works with navigation mod. However, the attackdisc and TDC won't work. When I try to rotate the wheels nothing happens .

EDIT:
I fixed it !! Now it seems to work just fine. Thanks again

Got it to work, too. But just to find out that real navigation simply doesn't work in SH. There are too many inaccuracies. The best sim for real nav that I have seen so far is FS2004/FSX. There you have: a real sextant, EA6b nav computer (whiz wheel), magnetic deviation, a real round globe (instead of the distorted wannabe-mercator map of SH), real weather, wind drift, realistic inaccuracies in the magnetic compass simulation (depending on heading/turning), ect, etc. SH is a joke compared to this!

Of course you are right! I didn't mean to sound harsh! Both sims have been designed for completely different audiences. It's just a shame because SH is soooo close to fully working cel nav! Just get some minor details fixed and it would work properly!

Hi,

in the near future I want to play with real navigation in SH3. Because I use the OLC-GUI, please can You explain, which ganges the player has todo if he wants to play both mods at one time?

Oh, forgot to say, that I play the german version.

Thanks,
Paco.
