Default PSU Upgrade questions

OK decided I am going to upgrad eth ePSU on my PC, at the moment it is the standard 300W PSU that came with my system, Micro ATX form.

At PC World they have a PCI-Express GForce *600 GT for £80 but it needs a 350W min PSU, so I am looking at a couple of 400 to 480W PSU on maplin.

this is one I am looking at as it fits my price range, can't go mega expensive. I have an Intel D915GAV mobo and want to be sure that this one is compatible.

Pick one of these instead:

Specifically, the S12 series. They are silent and powerful. If you want to spend more money, I believe the M series is modular.

I have a Seasonic M12 600w PSU and it is fantastic. Quiet and darn reliable. From what you are saying a 500w should be enough. Other reliable brands are Antec, Zalman, and Corsair (may be Seasonic re-badged?). Whatever you do just don't get some generic cheapy PSU.

I have the Seasonic S12 600w. Best PSU I have tried. Quiet and delivers with no problems. I don't think modular is that much better, unless you have very few things to connect to the PSU or a small case. (I used to have a cooltek 500w, it was silent untill put under pressure and got warm. Also it decided to chicken out and die one morning...)

cheers

WEll that one from Maplin fits my board...will have a look at cost on those others.

Having had a good look at the loadings I could get away with the current PSU IF I only have my joystick and mouse plugged in and remove the model (not used anyway) and the TV card (also not used).

It all depends on what sized case youve got , Ive got a micro ATX board in a standard case (MSI K8mm-v) , and im useing this for my psu http://www.antec.com/uk/productDetails.php?ProdID=04651

The MOBO power connectors are all standard , doesn't matter if its micro atx or full sized.
