what if you could model the focke that most of the IXD2 boats carried for long distance observations, to be extended by cable up into the air (like you can see the schnorkel being deployed) by ordering the watch officer to "deploy float" or something. the model would have to include a seated crew member looking out to sea like the crew on the conning tower do. here's the type of craft that my beloved robert gysae had on his boat:

don't bother telling me it's not possible because i already assumed that:p with that said, if it's possible then i can see the next award winning model in the making
