Default request: no auto-open chronometer at high time compression

Hello all,

When bumping up the time compression, the chronometer opens automatically. I would prefer that it stay closed. Why?

1. I play on relaxed difficulty settings, and have no need for it. I honestly have no idea why I need to have a huge watch on the screen giving me the exact time when 1 second of real time equals 1 hour of game time. I can still see the time in the lower right hand corner.

2. It's huge and covers up a lot of map real estate.

3. It's using clock cycles that are badly needed to compute the 8192 time compression.

4. Much of the game is avoiding planes, which means I'm closing the damm thing an awful lot.

5. If I need it, I can always hit X.

If any modder is as bugged about this as I am, please figure out how to get rid of the watch! Thanks a lot!

just drag the chrono away from screen. You will never see it again.

As he said though, the TC seems less smooth with the watch turned on. I jave a decent rig (E6600, 2GB, 8800GTS) and I certainly notice it is choppy with the watch up at high TC. If it's off the screen, the machine is still dealing with it.

I'd happily alter the point it pops up. I use the watch, but I NEVER use it during TC.

Thanks for the replies, all.

I too notice that the map 'refreshes' faster at high TC when the clock is closed.

tater: Yes! Even moving the point it appears to 8192 would do the trick for me.

Thanks again,

How is the machine still dealing with it if it's not being drawn?

Personally, I don't mess with it because the spinning arms help me remember I'm in TC, and when the arms stop moving, I know its time to take a walk up on deck to wake the watch crew and see if there are any convoys around

Though that doesn't mean it's for everyone. It's just my opinion

Well, I have only ever dragged it just off the screen, I can still see part of it.

Besides, I want it to pop up someplace useful when I hit X, I don't want to have to drag it out when I need it

That's true. That's how I learned to live with it in the first place! I kept forgetting I had hidden it under the orders bar, so I just left it there and got used to it. :rotfl:
