Sank my first carrier, on my first patrol!

Just installed SH4 on my computer after having it since it was first released (GWX kept me on SH3, might drift back after the final update is released).

I did some training missions so I could get use to the layout, especialy the keybord hot key layout, and then started a campain.

Got orders to partol off Honshu, so I set off for my patrol area. We were getting more and more air contacts the closer I got to Japan. I got tired of diving all the time and let the AA crew have some fun. They knocked off a Mavis, which opened our account.

Soon we had some ship contacts they we hunted after, small merchants were knocked off with the deck gun, medium and large with one or two torpedos, and some deck gun rounds if needed.

I noticed a task force contact, but we were out of position as we were chasing a pair of contacts that turned out to be fishing boats! Sank then out of pure rage at missing a task force.

A little while later, another task force is reported and I'm in a postion to intercept! Task force??? It's an old passanger liner with six destroyer escorts! Stuff that!
Four torpedos later, and the passanger ship is going down in flames! The escort never get a sniff of me!

A convoy is reported nearby, so I head off to intercept it. Two large ships and four smaller ones. Knock of one of the large, damage another (it had water at the guard rails, but it wouldn't sink!) and decided it wasn't worth going after it.

I get new orders to head over to near Formosa, but on the way there I get a report of a new task force heading to Japan. I'm in a perfect postion to attack, but only have four torps left aft. What a Taks force!!! 4 large carriers, two escort carriers, two battleships and a couple of heavy cruisers, not to metion escorts, a troop transport and a tanker! and me with only four torps!

Take aim at the first large carrier and fire a spread of four torps at her. All hit!!! By this time I'm already below the thermal layer and heading out of there!!! My log book records the carrier sunk (19,000 tons of her) and 50,000 tons of other shiping sunk as well!

Got some nice medals and rewards when I got home
