Japanese submarine? Impossible to sink it?

I was surprised (after so much time of playing) when the crew spotted an enemy submarine!

I had never again made contact with a japanese sub. :hmm:

Well, my biggest surprise was when I tried to destroy it, I fired a few torpedos that hit it but didn't damage it at all!!

When I returned to pearl, I send a report to the Admiral to inform him that I had spend 10 torpedos for a japanese sub that didn't took any damage.

What would have happened in real life?????????????????
