It already has, in a few different ways!

Try GWX or NYGM......both have their own "Realistic Sinking" modelled.

i would also be interested in this as gwx kills my pc.
(untill i upgrade ofcourse)

The first idea coming to my mind is to import only the ship files from GWX or NYGM into your install. It's time consuming as hell, but feasible. I did it in the old times. What you'll need is the Sea folder of any of these two supermods, plus the zones.cfg file. In order to avoid conflicts in config files, make sure that you correlate (by hand and with much care) the imported ship names with what you have in the EnglishNames or GermanNames cfg files and with what you have in the Roster folder. If you omit to correlate even one ship in the names and roster files, the game will CTD. Good luck with editing!
