Ubisoft = Toilet?

Wonder if anyone has ever pointed out to UbiSoft that their company logo appears to be a flushing toilet?

Their name even sounds like toilet paper... I can see a cuddly teddy snuggling up with a fluffy sheet of toilet paper saying, "Mmmmm, that's UbiSoft"

Coincidence? :hmm:

Sadly... I mean this is really sad, isn't it...

I was at the local Walmart yesterday and was looking for something to take my mind off of SH4 for a couple months (til perhaps things begin to gel) and picked up a game of a different genre, "Oh, this looks interesting... Might & Magic Heroes... hmmm..." then I notice the flushing toilet symbol and it litterally dropped from my hands to the floor. The meer thought of installing another headache on top of the existing headache was just too much. I couldn't even pick it up, I nudged it with my foot back over toward the rack and began searching frantically for any Sid Meier game.

SimCity4 should be arriving from Amazon in the next day or two...

Hey I'm DESPERATE!

Hey I'm DESPERATE!
I see you have SH3 + GWX in your sig, if you feel this way, don't play it as well

Without SH3 we would not have GWX, without SH4....who knows as of now
( without UBI we would have neither of these games ), but there is the potential for it to get much better.

Way to early to give up on it, but to each his own right

Well... If I wanted to be really nasty I could say that GWX was like the plunger that saved SH3. But that's just not true. I played the patched SH3 for years... happily. Although it did cause me some pain. Cost me a CDRW... but yeah I stuck it out cuz there was a great game in there that I just couldn't ignore.

I was being a little silly... I just need a little breather from SH4. I'll try it again in a month or two. Giving up too early isn't really a fair comment when I'm sure I was among the first to have it installed. March... April... May... June... July... it's been at least 4 months. That's a fair amount of patience, and I haven't totally rejected it yet.

But I was serious about the situation where I was looking for something to fill in the gap, and deliberately avoided anything with the Ubi label. And yeah Ubi should feel kinda sad about that... but I fear they're marching ahead with plans to continue securing lucrative license-based games for next-gen consoles and adolescents. If you happen to browse thru last years annual report the future doesn't look too bright for continued efforts in the adult simulation market. For a March 07 release you'd think they mighta mentioned Silent Hunter 4 at least once in the 06 report among the 160 odd pages... I'll be curious to read their 2007 report to see if it's mentioned.

They do have Silent Hunter listed on their corporate brochure though... I guess that's a positive. Shows a picture of SH4, but quotes "Sim of the Year" praise (which we know was for SH3). But at least it's somethin.

The Il-2 franchise is another good UBI product.

Although it's developed by Maddox Games you still wouldn't have purchased it just because of the UBISOFT logo.

Rainbow 6 is another good title. Although not my style of game but a friend owns it.

Ubisoft is just a publisher

IL2 is indeed a very good stable piece of software it doesnt let you down nor does it kills your system as its a very friendly game engine.
but I dont recall its been made by Ubisoft. knowing Maddox they take their time to make a Game, like Storm of War BOB, its been around for a while that its going to be made but very little has been published of the progress...so they must be taking their time which is good for a stable product.

unlike SH4 it has been rushed over.and therefore its has been dissapointed for some members.
its a shame that it happen we all would liked to see that the Devs had taken their time to make it a hell lot better then it is in this state.

Well, I've never seen a round toilet before. They're usually more or less oval. I'd like to quote PD:

Hmmm... wonder if Chris Sawyer could be persuaded to make a submarine game?

He could even include some happy little crew members that wander around and puke on the floor when the waves get too big...

Never mind Chris Sawyer how about Sid Meier, in a Firaxis poll a while back asking what game should be remade next Civilization was of course top, but second highest (I think) was Silent Service. Unfortunately Firaxis saw fit to ignore the poll and instead made "Railroads", which unfortunately was a complete disaster when compared to the original classic "Railroad Tycoon" .

If I could see one Microprose game remade it would not in fact be "Silent Service" but "Task Force 1942" a remake of that game adding anti air and anti-sub into the mix with todays graphics would be incredible.

Don't get me started on Railroads...

All I have to say is if Sid Meier makes a submarine game it better not involve any ballroom dancing!

MicroProse remake = X-Com FTW!
