Rig for red option

Anyone know how to mod a rig for red that would be manual? I figure that rig for red would only be used to adjust night vision for an attack or before coming to the surface at night. I would think that it wouldn't be on all the time during darkness. Any Ideas??

Prove me wrong, but I think it's hard coded as in SH3, and that's a feature...
