Default Game won't run after patching to 1.2

Hi,

I just installed SH4, (Win XP Pro). Rebooted, then ran the game "vanilla" v1.0

It appeared that all was ok. Set my options up and exited the game ready to patch it up.

Installed the 1.2 patch and now I get an error message that says,
"SH4.exe Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ?stopfacialexpressions@@characterinstantiation??QA EXXZ could not be loaded in the dynamic link library anim.act."

I have searched and searched but turned up nothing. I hope you guys may be able to help me out?

TIA

Mark

No other installations of the 1.1 patch or any mods? If not, try rebooting the computer and see if it still gives you that error. If it does, I assume it's a corrupted patch installation, in which case you'd need to uninstall the game and redo it.

Try an install then patch without booting the game first, it may help..

I do not see where you installed patch 1.1. Uninstall all, load the vanilla version and patch to 1.1 then put patch 1.2 right over that. See how she goes then. Remember to delete the SH4 file found in MY DOCUMENT folder also. A new will be installed upon reinstallation of the game.

At least this bad install of something had an error message with it.
I suspect that there are some bad installs that don't get the error
message and the player assumes everything installed OK. There are
just way too many posts of abnormalities with SH4 that should not be
there. And if you have read any of my other posts, I speak from experience!

Agreed? Some have said just patch to 1.2 and they have had not problems. Others tried but only to find they needed to install 1.1 then 1.2 for the game to run. Crazy. I loaded the game and played. Installed 1.1 and played. Then installed 1.2 right over it all. No issues. But, like SH3, we found out the hard way for uninstall/reinstall and the pesky folder hidden in my docs that had to go also for the game to work.

Cheers.

Thanks guys,

The game now runs. Just one slight problem.......

At start up the screen goes black, (I thought it wasn't running), but you can hear broken sound from the Ubisoft splash screen. Hit escape and then I can hear broken sound from the intro movie. Hit esc again and the game loads as normal.

I am just about to head out on the training missions. Thanks for your help.

I think you might need the windows media player codec....I believe this is the cure for that....most people remove the darn start up movie anyway.

In the Data/Movies folder, you have the Intro folder. I just renamed it
IntroX. If you want it back, just remove the X...

I somewhat postive you need the new codec because another member was getting a psycodelic movie when it played. No harm to the game if you rename it. I just click the mouse on each anyway. The brightside is your moving in the right direction!
