Default What are they doing to the children!?!?!

Seriously, what the hell? What happened to Superman and Batman? The Little Rascals? Dick Tracy? Could any good come out of children growing up to shows like this, instead of shows that have heroes and people that don't act like morons? Even the cartoons suck! Give me Dumbo or bugs bunny any day.

I don't know, it just seems like everything today is so candy coated and its starting here.

Sad. Even Sesame Street was better than that! At least you had The Grouch and Cookie Monster!

What is even worse is that parents use the TV as the electronic babysitter in the first place. Kids should be doing other things in my book.

Its dumbing it down to the lowest common denomenator.

Anyone ever see the way parents talk to their kids these days? Talk to them like babies and they'll learn to speak like babies.

Some people meet the Alien in their nightly nightmares.

Aliens I use to hack into pieces in my dreams.

My nightly demons are teletubbies.

I keep on running and running, else I feel my brain rotting alive. It's pure horror on sight. Kids should be protected from this kind of amputation of a vital organ.

True. And to make matters worse, the purple one is supposed to be gay so as to promote the idea that being gay is OK to children.

The Parents aren't even adults in most cases.

The Baby Boomers and following generations are a Generation of Children.

The Greatest Genernation should have been stricter with their kids and beat them more.

Another can of worms. I'm all for introducing negativity though because it is part of growing up.

Before I get into some big debate, I'm checking out, probably for the night. SHIV is calling my name!!!

LOL

I always remember Starship Troopers (the book not the movie) where students can't understand how they would have learned anything if their parents couldn't spank them.

One day I was home sick and I saw one of those early morning kid shows with some white rapper guy wanna be/ teletubbie wanna be. It was so aweful I couldn't turn away for maybe 10 minutes. It was just soooooooooo bad. He was just dancing around like an idiot like they do, and then they had the kids join him. Do you ever notice there is always a couple white kids, a black kid, and an asian kid? They try so hard not to be racist! I was trying to find a youtube of it but I don't even know the name.

I'm just glad I wasn't born any later than I was.

I blame he Hippies. Bloody sell outs. Free love in the 60s, anti-war in the 70s, sold out, became acountants, did coke, and had some bratty kids while they obcessed over their own social climbing.

TV and other media teach kids from early on to become good and well-behaved customers. Nothing more, nothing less. Who cares about intelligence? Who cares about the ability to understand things? Who cares about social skills? TV et al. don't.

Yes but TVs still have off buttons and there is still a playground at every school.

Parents are the ones that are letting their kids become mindless economic tools. Granted the advertisement media has an alarming amount of influence. But I'm only 19 (20 in 2 days, YAY for me), and I grew up with a TV and Pop Tarts and SUpersoakers and all the rest of that crap. My parents, particularly my mom, did a great job of influencing me to do more than just watch TV and want things.

I'm not trying to put myself out there as some brilliant example of a superb human being, but I do think that it can't be blamed on culture in general. We make our own culture at home. TV didn't stand a chance because my mom and dad read me stories. My dad and I actually would go to garage sales and library sales looking for Hardy Boys novels (of all things eh?). He handed me 'The Hobbit' when I was 8, and I had read The Lord of the Rings long before they were making a movie.

I think that its a choice. Parents are choosing alot these days to be selfish. To neglect their kids and supplement their bad emotional connection with alot of materialism. The classist society we live in says its better to be rich than smart. So mom should work too. But then there are stay at home moms that are morons too.

I don't know really. It seems that parenting has fallen out of fashion.

I agree. I know that it was not the intention, but let's stay away from any implication that homosexuality is inherently evil. It may be the opinion of a number, or a few members, but it is not one that should be endorsed on this forum. SubSim tries to stay neutral to race, creed or orientation.

Back to the topic.
