Constanza Where is it?

Hi, I have been relocated to Constanza, before starting my patrol I would like to know where it is, but I can't find it in any atlas, even a search on the web finds nothing, seems it just does not exist, is this place for real or fiction?
Edit: In WW2 era was called Konstanza, now is called Constanta, even the Black Sea is now Kara Deniz!! What a mess, why do they always have to change things!!
Is there anything there? How they gonna transport my IXC there, wonder how deep it is, interesting if nothing else!!

Western shore of the Black Sea (if you follow the news: Georgie is on the eastern shore), north of Istanbul, Turkey

Thanks, I found it, it just amazes me how they have to change the names all the time, and SH3 got it wrong, should start with a K!

No wonder, Google pointed me to the vicinity of Rome, Italy.

Not at all. Only in Turkish it is Kara Deniz, which actually means precisely the Black Sea, I think
For all the rest of the world it is still the Black Sea.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sea

Anyway, for us in Romania it has always been the Black Sea (Marea Neagra) and Constanta was always spelled like that, with a C, never with a K.

IIRC, the Type II was the only u-boat used in the Black Sea because the boat was cut into parts, laid on its side and transported by road and canal to the Black Sea where it was put back together.

You are correct, but in old WW2 map it is Konstanza, not Constanza, today is Constanta!

Patrol grids

I have had 2 patrols, not much to find in this area, the largest ship so far has been a small freighter, most are fishing vessels! I have been given 2 areas to patrol, the first was "WEST", since Constanza is on the West side of the black Sea I fail to see where I was supposed to go! and the second "OST", can't find that either, so I fail to patrol the given locations, any ideas to these locations??

yes, just go to near the Russian ports - you'll soon find small convoys

Constanza sounds to me like a reference to the old Christian capital Constantinople, before the muslims invaded renaming it Istanbul.
As the map for the game uses German? names for places,I am expecting Constanza to be the same?.
:hmm:

Can someont tell me what "OST" is and "WEST", where do I go so that the Mission Orders (F8) will display start and completion of Patrol area, mine just stay blue, therefore no renown (probably none but besides the point)!

Not sure if this is the answer you wanted but 'ost' is east in German, and west is 'westen'.Is this what you needed to know,or were you wanting something entirely different, and maybe its me that has my wires crossed here?
Anyway,hope that helps.

No Constanza is and was a Rumanian town on the black sea coast.

Constantinople/Istanbul is in Turkey

Both may well have been named after/for the Emperor Constantine, or perhaps different Emperors with the same name
