Making a Search Pattern Tutorial
Small tutorial on how to do your own search patterns. (Was doing some myself so...)
Tools needed: SH4 Mission Editor Notepad 10 min time Start up the Mission Editor found here (main SH4 Folder) C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific Click File/New/Select (Don't care about what year etc) Ok you should now see the world map and to the right of that the Tools Panel In the Tools Panel select the Sub tab. I think it dont matter what you select here but lets go for an American Sub, any Sub really. Drag that sub over to the map holding down left Mouse Button and hit the accept button in the window that appears. Now zoom in with your mouse wheel, you can center the screen by click/center view You will also see a scale in the bottom left corner (use this to estimate how big your pattern will be. Select the Sub by clicking it (green marker) Right Click/Add Way point Now simply place your points where you want them by Right click You can also adjust the way points by selecting them and dragging etc ![]() When you are happy with the pattern ![]() click Mission/Parameters. A window will open, tic Validation/Ignore Player Submarine Click File/Save (Normal Mission) as... Name it whatever This will create two files (open with Notepad), one has the Mission Briefing/Title (this one we dont need) The other one has all the way points as coordinates etc Before we continue copy a STOCK search pattern, found here C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Menu\Patterns Copy lets say Pattern 1 (Right click/drag/copy here) to your desktop. Open it with Notepad Now open YOUR NEW PATTERN with Notepad You will see a section called [Unit 1] Highlight all from CargoExt=-1 down and right click/copy Now highlight from the same line (CargoExt=-1) in the STOCK PATTERN DOC and paste Now you only need to pack it in JSGME format (NEW SERACH PATTERN MOD\Data\Menu\Patterns) and test it. ![]() If you want to make 3 new patterns (that's max at the moment) you can use my Search Pattern mod found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...405#post594405 Last edited by CaptainCox; 08-14-07 at 02:04 PM. |
