I keep suffering a CTD when I have burning ships in the game. I recently upgraded the computer, thinking that my video card was the problem.
Currently I have: 3.06 GHz P IV 1.5 GHz RAM 512 MB ATI Radeon X1650? (I will have to double check on the chipset when I get home) I had the same problem before, and I thought it was my video card, as it was originally a 256 PCI card w/o a fan. Upgraded the computer with a new mother board to get the PCI-E slot, and added another Gig of RAM just for sh*ts and giggles. Video card also has a fan. I'm not at home, so I can't export my complete mod list, but I feel pretty confident that none of the extra mods I have are affecting the graphics capability of the game. Also, prior to upgrading the computer, I was having the same problem. I tied it directly to NYGM by taking all of the other mods off during a burning ship situation, and it still crashed. So, although I haven't actually "tested" it, I see no reason to assume that I am incorrect in my assumption. This game is the entire reason that I upgraded my computer. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? What could it possibly be? |

Sounds like your system is alright, video driver issue perhaps?
I wonder if that happens to you with a certain screen - camera veiw or just in proximity.

Had it surfaced and submerged, facing the fire and away from it. Noticed that it has a significantly lower framerate when facing the fire.
![]() Any other situations that I could be missing? Keep it coming! |

I got the same thing occasionally with my radeon 9800, and just this evening experienced it with my new card a GE Force 7600. usually in free cam, usually multiple ships hit with massive fires/smoke. Tonight i nailed a DE and it simply exploded and crashed to desktop. Very frustrating

Had a few occasions too where the smoke would either vanish if looked from certain direction or it would put my PC to on it's knees. But that was in the earlier version of NYGM, dont know if that's the same issue.

Is there a way to edit the smoke/fire graphics down to stock from NYGM?
I never had this problem with stock, and I like the graphics, but I won't be crying as much from CTD's with the stock graphics. |
