Default Land not shown on the map

Hi gang,

So there we were, happily sailing along just east of the Jawa Sea, I believe it's called, at a speedy 4096x time compression when all of a sudden time compression kicks off and we start taking massive amounts of damage. There are no reports of any aircraft nor any ships but when I look outside I find my Gato completely beached on some apparently massive chunk of land which doesn't show up on the map even at the closest zoom. I have no idea how far this land extends as a few seconds later I was presented with the death screen, though I'm baffled as to how a sub can sink while sitting high and dry on the beach.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Martin
