The crew from hell and 1.2 bugs.

Yeah so here I am sailing to the down-under going to refit my sub to go help out in the battle for java or *jawa??* Suddenly my crew went 2d on me and started saying random numbers.

I go up top and its the ghost watch!

Its really creepy.

After a restart of sh4 and reloading the save, jawa was captured so I went to fremantle to refit again and go through the celebes seas on my way home. My game broke itself again with the 2d but not saying random numbers. Again I reload the game and loaded from the save. Half way through I ran across a large convoy in bad fog. Perfect for me to take advantage of it. I sunk a few freighters and a destroyer, went on my merry way.

I get to the northern part of the sea and ran across a task force not sure how big it was because all I saw was 1 destroyers and a small frigate which spotted me and started attacking. I sound general quarters and man the deck gun turn my boat head-on into its direction to play a game of chicken. Who ever is their range finder sucked ass. I sunk the frigate without taking any damage.

But wait a Gun boat and destoryer was coming to get me, this time I could not take it on with a deck gun, well not both at the same time. So I ordered a crash dive. But the game broke itself again. Every time I ordered crash dive, engines would go to all stop and it would not dive. I hit the dive button on my keyboard and on the panel, same thing. Great two enemy ships and I can't dive. I check damage control nothing wrong with any of the systems. I resound general quarters *turn it off and on again* but to no avail.

SO I was destroyed because of a bug in the game.

Not too happy about that.

Oh yeah I look in the readme file only 15 bug fixes and one of them is a joke?

NEW FEATURES

1. Modified the game rendering to accept FSAA and fixed high resolution rendering.
2. Added "Volumetric Fog" as a stand alone option, no longer member of the "Environmental Effects".
3. Added a new sound volume option, "Radio Volume", that controls the Radio and Gramophone volume.

Yeah where is the FSAA option?

After they messed with the sound options I can barely hear the game as in master voulme. I've check the sound options its maxed out all right. I had to turn up my speakers to hear it. The next time I play music on my pc I get blasted.

I wonder if a complete reinstall of the game would fix my issues?

Kinda reminds me of Scooby Doo for some reason;

"OLD CAPTAIN VARNEY!!!"

"And I'd have sunk that tanker too if it wasn't for you meddling kids and yer dog!"

2d crew and random numbers is part of the copy protection, contact UBI about this
(i'm assuming you run a legal version and no cd-crack)

About FSAA - you have to enable it in your graphic control panel. There is no
such option in the game itself.

Yes I have a legal copy, maybe I just need a clean install of the game.

Update:

I went to go play some more SH4 and it wouldn't read my disc anymore. I eject it, clean it and tried again, still ask for the disc. So I tried Battlefield 2, which I have the cd's and not the dvd version and it wouldn't read that and I also tried my sh3 disc. I replaced my cable with another one and still didn't work. I guess my drive is dead, it still detects it at post but it won't read a bootable linux live cd.

Now I have to wait until the stores are open tomorrow to get a new dvd drive.

I guess I need a clean install anyways.

cd/dvd drives do this more than one thinks..

i just get a new one but my kids, open up the drive and adjust the reader height. they take the scratchyest worse looking cd they got and start adjusting up or down untill it can read it. that drive will now read anything always.

search the net for this, thats where they found out how to do it, because their psp did that once [not reading]. they have fixed my two old drives that broke [not reading] doing it too..those old drives are now hardcore readers

A bad CD/DVD drive would explain why the copy protection thinks you have a cracked copy of the game.

By the way, the see-through crew members is because Environmental Effects (or Volumetric Fog) is switched on. If you turn those off, the crew are solid.
