Go to one of your attack stations and start the stopwatch......then go back to the nav map....it should be ticking away....you can only look at it

The draggable clock with the wooden shell is just a visual representation of the stopwatch that you can activate from the periscopes and UZO. Its there for convenience sake. You can then make time based calculations and mark them down on say the map without switching or be able to stand on the bridge or in the control room and know when to expect the torpedo to hit.

GREAT, I have so far been counting the last seconds in my mind.

It surprises me all the time.

Then what about the others, I know I should post it as separate but couldn't be bothered

See pages 53-58 in the GWX manual for a description of the pullouts on the Nav map.

The tables tell you how far you would travel at a particular speed over a certain period of time:

Knoten in Kilometer pro Stunde:
Columns are labeled in hours
Rows are labeled in knots
Cross Reference a row (your current speed) with a column, to see how many kilometers you would travel in that many hours at that speed.

Knoten in Meter pro Minute:
Same as above, but the columns are in minutes, not hours. And the results are in meters not kilometers.

It would be great though if the chart had on it the math that was involved in determining that result. That way I could make more specific calculations about travel.

EDIT> I just found this scrawled on a piece of paper I had in my "SH3 Manual TDC" notes. Yes I have notes.

Distance travelled = Speed in knots X Hours X 1.852

This is for Kilometers. That means that if you're going 1 knots then you are going 1.852 Km/h.

EDIT #2 Check this out. I just found it. http://www.plasma.com/classroom/converterspeed.htm
