strange bug - passenger liner

hello,

right now, playing SH3 1.4b, no GWX. using resolution fix (1680*1050). I managed to sink my first liner, but there is a problem - as I plotted the liners course, the frame rate dropped down drastically when I zoomed the chart (using max zoom). the frame rate kept "stuttering" till I un-zoomed. what is this supposed to be? I have never encountered such a problem with any other ships except for the liner...

Were you looking directly at the liner's 'graphic' on the Nav map?

If so, I'm 90% certain that something similar was discovered like this a long time ago.

If my memory serves (and it's not good) there was an issue with an alpha channel in some of the graphics when at high zoom. I can't quite remember how this was fixed, whether it was the graphic that was changed or whether the zoom level was reduced by one step.

Needless to say, this problem is not evident in the later supermods.

I have no map updates so I have not seen the liner on the chart. The problem appeared as soon as the liner has entered the hydrophone perimeter (34 km).

I'm sure the problem is related somehow to the Nav map and the level of zoom, regardles of whether you have no map updates.

Although, this problem was identified so long ago that the posts relating to it are no doubt in the archives.

I hope someone with a better memory than me will see this and be able to help more than I can.

Strange slowdown, stuttering - SOLVED!!
Hi All,
First, Thanks for all your suggestions!
No, it was not TC, nor a virus, nor MP10, nor the display driver (even though I installed CAT 5.8, which didn't help).

The reason was a long line....When I started this mission, I plotted a line staight from Lorient to NY - and just left it there for reference. Deleting that line immediately solved all stutters, so now I'm happy again

Just goes to show that very often you wind up looking in the wrong place in these matters

Me too, I had this 8 000km long line on my chart The stuttering was not caused by a liner but rather by this long line. Thanks for suggestion, anyway
