Default Iceland

How tough do you think it would be to get into the harbour in Iceland in Nov 1944?

Has anyone ever gone into Iceland?

There are a couple juicy convoys in there according to Intelligence (SH3 Gen).

I am using G7es.

Does anyone know how deep it is?

If you get past the possible mines and subnets you'll probably find there will be no convoy there Rob....more likelihood is that all you'll find is harbour traffic....in Nov 44 I personally wouldn't be raiding any harbours but more likely 'stalking' the approaches

Iceland is a fairly easy harbour with respect to other ones. You will find a couple of Tankers and a Dido of the Royal Navy there. Be careful though as it is quite shallow and the 3-4 Armed Trawlers can be dangerous.

Good Luck

Not in 44 in GWX
Especially after the 1.03 patch
Iceland was protected by the US after April 41 with US troops replacing British in July 41
So the shipping adjust accordingly
Patrols are somewhat different in 1.03 too

Is that still your stock career Rob ?

Thanks for the info BBW

Last time I went to Iceland and raided the harbour was in GWX 1.00 in 1941-42. I'm too scare to go in 1944

Yepper. Started my next mission and heading to AM51 with G7es torpedoes and thought I might drop in on Iceland as there are two convoys there. Don't know though, whether I should.

My first clip is half full as I got attacked by aircraft again. You think they would quit sending them after me as I only shoot them down. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Rob,

It's scary in Reykjavik. long shallow approaches which are well patrolled and they have an airbase. I've tried a few times to get in there and only succeeded in getting away with it pre 1942. I haven't been bothered going back later than '43 cos I keep getting my butt kicked in there.

In 1944, I would go near enemy harbours as they are heavily patrolled, and a Trawler/corvette are very deadly in shallow waters as soon they smell you.

I wouldnt be bothered to go to iceland later war, stick around in deep waters and stay safe.

I managed to make it into Reykjavik harbour in October '40 on my one and only harbour raid ever. Something I normaly never bother with, and won't again. Even then it was hard enough, five destroyers guarding the port. Depth was about 40-something metres further out going down to 1 mtere under the keel at periscope depth at the harbour entrance. A dido class, an auxilury cruiser, a large cargo. In the period you mention, I wouldn't even dare try. But, 'do you feel lucky punk'.

Auxilury cruiser, Reykjavik.
