Confirmation needed on an optin that is not in game

Okay I have the game running and I'm setting up my "Realism" options, now according to page 6 of the manual we should have (And this is what I dont have showing).A "No noise meter" setting and "No weapons officer assistance" Now I have never done maunaul TDC but always had my Weps officer input the data...Kinda more realistic with crew around you doing there jobs....BUT in my game these last two options are GONE!!!

Can someone clarify that either they have them (Then my install is borked) or that you do not have them...then in that case where the freak are they if there in the manual

They are gone. Weps was so good with ranges he got his own boat. Now it's all up to you. Captain.

Thanks Sandman I was going crazy there for a minute...Well well decidedly funny that the information in the manual does not hold true for the game....Oh boy...Another gaff!!!

Precisley Melin that's why I think most players who did not want to compute full manual TDC loved the option to turn on Officer assistance....plus with no gods eye view on map it kinda felt the right thing....Now at the moment because I do not want to do manual computing ......Maybe later as i get more involved in the game, I rather feel that the game as is now without assistance is an arcadish shoot fest...Shame. Plus it appears that the Stadimeter does not work, nor can you compute speed correctly with manual anyway!!!

In SH3 the weapon officer assistance was not realistic in the sense that it was the skipper's job to obtain targeting info such as target identification, AoB and range. The weapons officer made sure tubes were prepared, the torpedo settings were correct, etc. He would have no responsibility in regards to obtaining target info.

Weapons officer assistance in SH3 is an aid, it is a departure from realism. For some reason I feel compelled to refute this claim, and have done so hundreds of times with no effect . I can think of plenty of reasons to use weapon's officer assistance to fire torpedos, but realism is not one of them.
