This is very reasonable, plus I imagine the time limit is tweakable by the leader himself. This is very important also, because a multiplayer game where there is no race against time and the advantage of stealth is decidedly on one side (to strike whenever convenient for them) would be unbalanced and outright boring. Also, how would you determine who won? It's either time or distance travelled by convoy, which in tactical terms is the exact same thing. Since it's convoy escort, your job is not to sink all the subs but protect the convoy. If it were a game of hunting group vs. sub, then it wouldn't be much fun at all - the advantage would be on a hunting group's side. Escorting big warships or merchants, meanwhile, is a great challenge that gives both sides distinct advantages and with time factored in - gives both sides a fair chance. It's a correct decision for a good, dynamic multiplayer match. |
