I like to open new thread about our little museums.
Its known that people interested in history of WWII like to collect the memorabilia , be it books , weapons , documents or rear pictures. Some guys prefer to dress themselves up in vintage gear and run around in woods reenacting battles. What im asking for is pictures , and if you lucky enough stories associated with the particular item. I start You off with the first item - one i bought recently in Poland during my holiday. I dont know the story behind it , it just happened to fall into my hands. ![]() Its marked 1942 ![]() and some detail ![]() |

I've got loads of that kind of thing, just took a quick snap of the ones that were to hand, although not all of this is WW2 stuff, I've got plenty of WW2 stuff too!
![]() On this picture you can see, the ejection handle from a Martin Baker seat out of a SEPECAT Jaguar, the ejection handle shroud from a MiG-29 (got most of the seat from that one too, it was the one that was used at Fairford a few years ago when a MiG-29 pilot ejected at an airshow), the Swastika armband is one that was never issued, it still has the little paper sticker inside, it's apparently a Hitler Youth version, the cardboard box contains a replacement port wingtip navigation light for a Spitfire, and is date stamped August 1943, apparently it was made in Canada, so I presume it dodged its way past a U-Boat or two on its way to the UK! Probably one of the most interesting things I have is a collection of pieces of a Spitfire that was shot down during the Battle of Britain (R6753 XT-G), flown by Colin Pinckney, if I can dig those out, I'll take a picture of them, it mostly bits of the engine but there are a couple of panels with the camouflage paint still on them too. I've also got a coffee pot with a Swastika stamped into it surrounded by a cog with gears on it, which appaerently was the labour division's variant of the Nazi symbol, it belonged to a German officer and came to me via the Polish lady (now deceased) who was employed as his maid. She apparently took it along with a lot of other stuff when he was busily running away from the advancing Russian army! That still gets used actually, as it keeps coffee very hot, and is an interesting conversation piece, although I do usually end up having to point out that I'm not some sort of closet Nazi when people see it! ![]()

Another number from my attic is Doxa watch. ![]() still in original condition and full working order ![]() Number DH for Deutsche Heer ![]() Swiss made strictly to german standards ![]() ![]() Watch was bought from e-bay for the price of average high street watch. |

My Nazi coffee pot - sort of hard to make out on this picture, but there is recessed cog motif with a swastika in the centre of it, obviously those Nazis didn't want to set off invading most of Europe without a good caffeine hit first. It's the perfect accessory for those long SH3 sessions that drag on into the night where you need to stay awake. Also ideal if you are a German aristocrat with the surname: Von Lumportwo:rotfl:

Topic is going down the storm
![]() Another item. Helvetia watch german army issue , made in Switzerland probably 1940.Bought on e-bay for 100£. Its used dayly and v. reliable. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thats the original strap i bought the watch with , but i changed it for more secure modern style army strap. The only work ive done was exchanging the lugs for the new ones , as the original ones were to badly corroded. Watch was sent to me from Yorkshire , and deeper history is unknown. |
